Dock Pitching Pannie Pounders

I have fished more lakes than I could ever remember in my lifetime but one thing I've learned is that most lakes docks and other man made structures play an important role for the fishery. With the ever growing population of humanity its getting harder and harder to find natural shorelines around lakes. Natural shorelines usually host downed trees, marshlands, lily pads, and many other great forms of structure. On lakes overtaken by man its time to aim for a different type of structure. For these lakes that are surrounded by houses sometimes it's hard to find even a small weedbed, don't sweat it, in these situations the fish will adapt and use as much man made structure as they can.

On lakes where docks are king it's hard to beat the rush of casting along a wide array of dock appendages, boat hoists make for amazing structure. Casting your bait along side a dock, boat hoist, or even just floating boat can be extremely effective and exciting as well. The pannie pounders and pig pounders are perfect in these situations. Casting them along side a boat hoist or any other dock structure, letting them lightly flutter down a bit before slowly reeling them in, the fish will rush out and smash them without hesitation! Late spring and into summer is when the docks seem to shine the brightest. It's at this time that the fish are looking for any source of shade they can find. In my experience docks have been the ticket for rock bass, smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, crappie and much more. Give this a try this season and I'm sure you'll have a blast!
